Silently Spoken

                               (for Jodie)

Pretty eyes and a pretty smile. Oh won't you stop and sit awhile Soft brown hair with a hint of blonde. Please hear me speak, it won't take long. It's not too often that I speak my mind, and I'm not always sure that it's always mine. So I'll speak to you now straight from my heart. It's the best place as any for me to start.
Inside I felt empty, so broken and cold. Had I lost my youth? How I felt so old! When you looked at me, inside I cried, For you stirred up feelings which I thought had died. Then when you smiled at me I returned to my youth. I can tell you no lies. My heart speaks only the truth. I felt so warm, I was glowing inside. You had shifted my heart as the moon shifts the tide.
I planned this talk short. Just as short as could be. How do you close off a heart, a caged heart now set free? So, you with pretty eyes and a pretty smile, Oh won't you stop and sit awhile? 10 June 1983
